Seniors Issac Pollard and Elizabeth Watkins were named as May’s athletes of the month. This is the second award given out and sponsored by Chick-Fil-A.
“Both are great examples of a mature young adult,” girls athletic director Jessica Dimsdle said. “Each one carries themselves in a manner that we would love for our younger athletes to mimic. Ellie and Isaac wear their Lindale Eagles jerseys with pride and bring honor to our school”
Football and track athlete, Pollard, made it to the second round of playoffs in football and made it to state in pole vault. Pollard plans to go to Missouri University of Science and Technology and continue playing in these two sports.
“I’m super honored,” Pollard said. “It’s a really humbling thing because it is not something that everyone gets, so to be a part of it is really exciting.”
Watkins plays both softball and volleyball as well as ranking eighth in her graduating class. She is signed to East Texas Baptist University to play softball this upcoming school year.
“I’m very honored and it’s a really special thing to get,” Watkins said. “I wasn’t expecting it whatsoever. I didn’t even know that they did this, so it’s pretty cool.”
