Last week, the boys varsity basketball team won three of three games, continuing their strong season.
During the Henderson game, Justin Ferris started the team off strong, with a quick 3 point shot and strong defense. In the first half, 6 Lindale boys scored, but each one scored no more than 2 points. By halftime, Lindale led by 19-16 and had a small lead going into the third period. Senior Taegan Terry and junior Amare Baptist scored a combined 7 points in third period, and the Eagles’ strong defense helped them continue their lead. With under a minute to play, the Lions had a lead of 31-29, but senior Walter Smith scored in the time left, causing the game to go into overtime for the third time this season. As overtime ended, the Eagles won with a final score of 46-35, guaranteeing Lindale a spot for playoffs.
As Lindale’s last home game and senior night, the game against Spring Hill was one of the most important. In the first quarter, Smith scored three 3-pointers right off the bat, followed by Terry scoring a pair as well. Senior Colton Widemon and Senior Colby Wood worked actively on defense, and by the second quarter, Lindale had scored 20 points. Junior Ayden Pierson scored five points by the end of second period, and during third period, Wood and junior Ryder Johnson worked to score a combined 10 points going into fourth period. In the end, the Eagles won with a final score of 58-48.
As for the bi-district game against Pittsburg, Lindale took the win with an ending score of 47-35. This victory will lead them to play Kaufman and Mabank in the area round.
During the Arp Tiger powerlifting meet, both Lindale’s boys and girls teams placed first. Senior Brittany Chavez earned the title of most outstanding lifter for light platform and Senior Zaniya Mumphrey earned most outstanding lifter for heavy platform. In the boys division, junior Gabe Hart earned the most outstanding lifter for heavy platform.
