Sports Recap Oct. 4-8

Varsity football played against Henderson and won 28-21. Senior Sam Peterson had eight successful passes totalling 123 yards with an average of 15.3 yards per pass. Sophomore Patrick Daniels had 135 rushing yards and averaged 5.8 yards gained per carry. Sophomore Jake Curbow had three solo tackles and seven assisted tackles.

“I know I have to be a good role model to the younger girls on the team and I am taking that job seriously this year,” senior Alondra Romero said. “I care about every single player on my team and I hope I am making them proud.”

The Lindale Lady Eagles traveled to Henderson Oct. 8 and battled four sets to bring home a victory. Set scores were 25-22, 25-22, 19-25, and 27-25. Middle Blocker, Brenley Philen had 7 blocks on the night, and recorded 15 kills, 5 digs, and an ace. Outside Hitter, Ellie Watkins tallied 10 kills, 8 digs, and an ace, and Maddox Lay put down 7 kills and had a dig. Kayli Vickery contributed 6 kills and a dig. Reagan Cates and Brooke Tweedell each put down 5 kills, and Brooke added 3 digs and a block defensively. Libero, Alondra Romero had 15 digs, 3 assists, and Preslie Walters recorded 6 digs. Setter, Anna Ivy led the assists with 23, recorded 7 digs, and a kill. Tatum Woodard had 20 assists, and 5 digs. Tonight’s win improves the Lady Eagles record to 6-2 in district. Lindale has a bye Tuesday, and will resume play against Spring Hill Friday at 4:30pm.

The Lindale Lady Eagles honored their graduating class Oct 5 at home for Senior Night, and came away with a decisive district win over Cumberland 25-13, 25-10, and 25-6. Brenley Philen led with 11 kills, 4 blocks, and 1 dig. Reagan Cates had 5 kills on the night. Ellie Watkins, McKinleigh Evans, and Maddox Lay each had 2 kills.  Dylan Adams and Kayli Vickery each added a kill and a block.Keatyn Bills also recorded a kill. Libero, Alondra Romero had 6 digs defensively, 1 assist, and 1 ace. Preslie Walters added 2 digs, 2 aces, and was lights out from the service line with 11 consecutive serves. Tatum Woodard tallied 13 assists, and 1 dig, and Anna Ivy had 8 assists and 2 digs. 

Lindale’s Junior Varsity also came away victorious with scores of 25-16 and 25-14. Maddie Little and Kennedi Pickrell each had 5 kills, and Joey Forsyth and Aspen Ives added 3 kills in the win. 

Freshmen B Team traveled to Gladewater and won 20-25, 25-22, and 15-13.
