Key Club will host the annual Pumpkin Contest Oct. 26 through Oct. 29. The pumpkins will be displayed in the school foyer for people to vote during the mornings and lunch.
“I’m always excited to see what groups come up with and how they use their creativity on a pumpkin,” Key Club sponsor Kristin Schlessman said. “In the past, we’ve had some really great entries. Sometimes they are scary and based on the Halloween season but typically, the best ones are just fun and interesting and they typically reflect what is popular that year.”
The contest is meant for different clubs within the school to submit their creative pumpkin designs for everyone to vote. The winner receives Halloween candy as the prize.
“I’m super excited for the contest,” sophomore Angelina Jansen said. “I can’t wait to see all the different designs our school’s clubs come up with.”
After the contest, the pumpkins will be delivered as Halloween and fall decorations for local nursing homes as part of their project.
“This is a great activity to involve all clubs and teams,” Schlessman said. “[It] give[s] them a chance for some team building.”
