The speech teams competed Tuesday and Wednesday at the virtual UIL state speech tournament. The rest of the state qualifiers joined them on Wednesday for the final score reveal.
“We’re excited, and there’s been a lot of anticipation,” speech and debate coach Rory McKenzie said. “The nature of speech and debate is that it’s really hard to predict how things are going to go, so we just have to do what we’ve trained to do and hope for the best.
For the trip, the qualifiers visited the Dallas Museum of Art, ate lunch at the Kyle-Warren Food Truck Park, and went to Stonebriar mall in Frisco. They will meet at the Cheesecake Factory for the awards reveal.
“I am so excited for how well all the UIL teams have done this year,” journalism sponsor Neda Morrow said. “ Everyone really came together and did their best to get the points needed to put us in a position to win state overall. ”
