Choir students received awards for their performances at various events. Receiving all-state choir outstanding musicians were senior Xander Dickerson and junior Sarah Richardson.
“These two earned all state honors through a three-round competitive process over the span of six months,” choir director Kerry Baham said. “Initially over 50,000 Texas high school musicians entered the competition and around 1800, or 3% were named All State Musicians.”
Additionally, students such as junior Abigail Alexandris, senior Vanessa Butterfield, sophomore Sarah Kramer, junior Halle Lambert, junior Sarah Richardson, and junior Norah Taylor earned Texas Music Scholar.
“These students earned the Texas Music Scholar award by satisfying, among others, the following requirements,” Baham said. “Earning at least All Region Choir, earning a superior rating on a class one solo at UIL solo/ensemble contest, maintaining an overall A average in all classes, and consistently exhibiting behavior which brings honor to the parent organization, school, and community.”
Inside the choir, leadership achievements were also recognized. Choir president junior Halle Lambert, freshman Elijah Sanchez, sophomores Emily Holloway and Mercedes Trasancos, junior Madison Klinkovsky and senior Vanessa Butterfield received such awards.
“These students distinguished themselves over the course of the school year,” Baham said. “They served as exemplary models of how young musicians should compose themselves on a daily basis.”
