On Thursday, Senior Camilo Rivera received the State Farm Good Neighbor Award for February. The award recognizes students of good character who best reflect the school’s values through their commitment to respect, accountability, honesty, responsibility, and community contribution. It was presented by RJ Collins of State Farm Insurance.
“Camilo is one of the most outstanding students we have at Lindale High School,” Principal Jeremy Chilek said. “He works so hard everyday, not to mention he works outside of school as well.”
Along with the award, Rivera was given a gift package that included jumper cables, a Doc’s Pizza gift card, and a Lindale sweatshirt.
“It feels amazing [to win the award],” Rivera said. “I like going to school here because they keep it simple. There’s not a lot of disrespect like at some schools.”
Rivera and his father own a lawn business called Rivera’s Lawn Care. He works early in the mornings and in the evenings during school and all day during the summer.
“He’s here every day with a smile on his face,” Chilek said. “Anything you ask him to do he does. He’s a great example of somebody we want here at Lindale High School.”
