There was a home powerlifting meet Saturday to begin the season. The meet was for both the boys’ team and the girls’ team. Several students placed in their respective weight classes.
In the boys’ competition, several athletes placed first for their respective weight classes were DJ Walton (148), Ethan Thornton (198) and Matt Davis (SHW). The boys’ team placed second overall, behind defending state champion Brownsboro.
A couple of girls also placed first in their weight classes: Taylar Ragland (132) and Savannah Petty (165). The girls’ team overall earned first place.
