Lindale competed well in the Nacogdoches Side Out Tournament on Saturday. All three teams came home with a trophy for their efforts. The Junior Varsity Lady Eagles took home the first place hardware after defeating Timpson, Central Heights and Grace Community. Leading in kills were McKinleigh Evans with 14 (2 blocks), and Ellie Watkins and Maggie Spearman with 10 kills. Maggie also had two blocks and two aces on the day. Darby Woodrum also had a solid perform with nine kills. Preslie Walters and Makenna Burks both ran the court well from the setter position.
Junior varsity 2 also took home first place in their division. They defeated Marshall, Nacogdoches, and Timpson. Courtney Gregory and Sherry Shannon led the team in kills, and Kayden Barkley and Destiny Luella were dominant from the service line.
The freshmen Lady Eagles took second place. They defeated Kilgore and Nacogdoches but fell to a very tough Lufkin team in the championship. Bailey Wood led with five kills and three blocks. Brooke Tweedell had four kills and one block on the day. Eva Yates recorded six assists and Hannah Morrow had three.
Friday night the Varsity Lady Eagles beat Lufkin handily in three sets. Shelbi Steen recorded 14 kills, Skylar Wyllie eight kills, London Reue seven kills, and Jaci Philpot had six kills on the night. Harleigh Thurman had 20 assists and Kalaya Pierce assisted 12 times. Varsity and Sub-Varsity will be back in action Tuesday night at All Saints. JV 2 will compete at John Tyler.
