Dodgeball Tournament to Help Pay for Senior Trip

There will be a dodgeball tournament at the First United Methodist Church in Lindale Sunday beginning at 1:30 p.m. This event is open to all Lindale junior high and high school students and serves as a fundraiser for the senior trip to Six Flags Over Texas on May 17.

There are lots of fundraisers out there and this is an out of the ordinary one that everyone can be a part of,” tournament committee leader Charla Gill said. “I do think it will be success because the students themselves get to have such an active hand in the event.”

Admission costs $2 for those 18 years old and up, but it is $1 for students aged 5-17. Teams will consist of six people, and each person will have to pay $10 to play.

Playing dodgeball takes me back to the earlier grades,” junior Sills Stanford said. “Playing dodgeball is just pure fun. It is absolute enjoyment with no strings attached or worries.”

There will be concessions during the event for $1. The winning team will receive a prize after the conclusion of the event.

All out chaos ensues from the moment the game starts,” Stanford said. “It’s an event where I can have a great time with some of my best friends in.”

The senior trip visits Six Flags each year for their senior trip. However, this is the first annual dodgeball tournament.

I think this is a fun way to raise money for such a memorable event,” Gill said. “We encourage everyone to participate – playing or cheering – and enjoy a great time.”
