Homecoming Queen Nominees Prepare to be Crowned

Four seniors were chosen as this year’s homecoming queen nominees. The winner will be crowned this Friday at the homecoming game against Marshall.

Joy Nelms, Homecoming Queen Nominee

Joy Nelms is the president of the Key Club and the National Honors Society. In addition to leading those organizations, she is a social officer on the yearbook staff and a member of the Texas Bank and Trust Student Board of Trustees. After graduating from Lindale, she wants to major in communications and minor in Bible studies at Biola University.

“I was shocked; I knew some people had nominated me, which is so nice by itself,” Nelms said. “To be chosen is crazy, and I am so thankful!”

Zoe Wilder, Homecoming Queen Nominee

Zoe Wilder is a very active member of the Lindale FFA. Her work has resulted in multiple scholarship offers. After graduation, she hopes to attend Stephen F. Austin University and pursue a career in criminal profiling.

“I honestly just wanted to be nominated,” Wilder said. “I do not care if I win, but I feel honored to be nominated.”

Lainey Goodson, Homecoming Queen Nominee

Lainey Goodson is the captain of the drill team, along with a competitive dancer. She is highly involved in giving back to the community through Key Club and her church discipleship program.

“I felt very honored and grateful,” senior Lainey Goodson said. “I am so excited to be one of the nominees.”

Kloey Smith, Homecoming Queen Nominee

Kloey Smith spends her time outside of school modeling. In the past, she has been named Miss Teen Lindale and Lindale High School’s coronation duchess her junior year. She hopes to attend A&M in college station and major in architectural designing with a minor in interior design.

“When I found out I was nominated for homecoming queen I felt humbled to even have been nominated,”  Smith said. “I’m blessed to have some of my closest friends nominated along with me as well as standing out on the field representing our high school!”

 

Representing LHS as duchesses on Friday night are:  Freshman Duchess – Shelby Anderson,  Sophomore Duchess – La’Launa Moffitt, Junior Duchess – Kaleigh Lawless, Senior Duchess – Braeleigh Flickinger, and Football Sweetheart – Whitney Wallace.
