Seniors Lily Chamberlain and Kalaya Pierce signed to play sports at the college level on April 22. Pierce signed to play volleyball at Cedar Valley College and Chamberlain will play basketball at LeTourneau University.
“I am very excited for both of these young ladies to have the opportunity to go compete at the next level,” basketball coach Daniel Devisscher said. “Going to college to play sports is not easy as very few are chosen, they understand what it takes and are willing to put the work in to be great.”
The two girls played together on the basketball team reaching a regional quarterfinals title in the playoffs. Chamberlain, a shooting guard, will continue that legacy of basketball excellence in college at LeTourneau in Longview, Texas.
“I chose LeTourneau because of the environment and how close it was to home,” Chamberlain said. “I just really fell in love with the coaches and my teammates in Longview.”
Pierce played for the girls varsity volleyball team last fall where the team went undefeated throughout district, competing in the playoffs. Pierce is continuing her education and volleyball career at Cedar Valley College in Lancaster, Texas.
“I chose Cedar Valley because I love the team and how truly accepting they were,” Pierce said. “They really just brought me in and made me feel like I was just at home.”
