Teacher Honored with Outstanding Educator of the Year Award

English teacher Reneé Ramsey was recognized as Academic Rodeo High School Outstanding Educator of the year for her dedication to the Academic Rodeo. She was given $100 for her recognition.

“I am very honored to be recognized by the Academic Rodeo. I have thoroughly enjoyed taking kids to these competitions.”

Ramsey was recognized at the fairgrounds. There was a winner for the elementary, junior high, and high school levels.

“I have had the good fortune to know Renee Ramsey for over 25 years,” principal Valerie Payne said. “I am so proud of [her], and I can’t think of anyone more deserving of being named the Academic Rodeo High School Outstanding Educator of the year.”

Ramsey has been involved in taking kids to compete in Academic Rodeo for about 8 years and served as the campus coordinator for all events. She helps register teams, communicates with the Academic Rodeo organization and disseminates information to the other sponsors.

“I sponsor two teams in the Academic Rodeo Mindset Breaking Experience and Academic Quiz Challenge,” Ramsey said. “I have thoroughly enjoyed [seeing] them win medals, trophies and scholarships.”
