Girls Basketball Fights for Bi-District Title

The Lady Eagles basketball team will play Bryan-Rudder at 7:00 tonight for the first round of playoffs. The game will determine who claims the bi-district champion title and will be held at Slocum High School.

“We are ready to play and to represent our high school and community with pride and excellence,” head girls basketball coach Dalinda Cassel said. “We are prepared and if we will execute our game plan we will be Bi-District Champs.”

The team has been working toward this game since early November. The team practices every week day and participates in an average of about two games per week.

“Our coach has been able to really prepare us for every game this season,” senior Kaylee Barfield said. “She helps us individually and has really made an impact on how we carry out our fundamentals.”

The team is went 4-6 in district play and earned third place overall when they beat Jacksonville last week. The team has been practicing since then to prepare for tonight.

“I think our team has such a strong connection between each other that it makes us want to win even more,” junior Sarah Kiser said. “I look forward to playing tonight because I really want to win bi-district. It would mean a lot for the seniors and for us as a team.”
