Debate competes at first tourney of year

The Lindale Speech and Debate team travelled to Foster High School in Richmond (just outside of Houston) for the first tournament of the year.  This was a swing tournament, which means they competed at two different tournaments at the same time.  Individual results are as follows:

1st Cross-Examination Debate – Robert McWhorter (’18) and Anthony Wyatt (’18)

1st Program of Oral Interpretation – Elizabeth Tagg (’18)

1st Program of Oral Interpretation – Elizabeth Tagg (’18) (She won both tournaments!)

1st Poetry Interpretation – Elizabeth Tagg (’18)

2nd Foreign Extemporaneous Speaking – Ronak Desai (’18)

2nd Poetry Interpretation – Samantha Rodden (’19)

3rd Prose Interpretation – Elizabeth Tagg (’18)

4th Prose Interpretation – Elizabeth Tagg (’18) (She placed at both tournaments!)

5th Foreign Extemporaneous Speaking – Evan Bewersdorf (’18)

5th Program of Oral Interpretation – Samantha Rodden (’19)

The tournament featured over 40 schools mostly from the Houston area, with some events having over 60 individual competitors.

Ronak now has received nine points towards a state qualification (he needs three more).  Anthony and Robert have six (needing six more).  Evan has four (needing eight more).
