Returning to the nest

The boys and girls varsity soccer teams played LHS alumni Dec. 20. Both teams lost to the alumni, with the boys’ score being 3-2, and the girls’ score as 2-1.

“It was kind of intimidating to play experienced players, because I didn’t expect how they played,” sophomore Lauren Thurman said. “It was scary at first, but I got used to the pace and everything. It was embarrassing to lose because we run, practice, and work on ball skills a lot, and they don’t.”

The alumni game is an annual community event where previous players in the LHS soccer program can come back to play against the current varsity soccer teams.

“I loved seeing the graduated people come back and play because I know that everybody missed them,” senior Emily Johnson said. “It was great watching them play a second time around against our new teams. It was especially cool being on the sidelines, seeing everything so close up and in the moment.”
