Senior Paints Ornament for State Representative

Senior Chloe Bryant painted an ornament to portray State Representative Cole Hefner’s district. The school was approached in late October by Hefner’s office for the school to pick a student.

“[Bryant] was selected as a student who was both talented and available,” art teacher Rebecca Harrison said. “I feel she has done a wonderful job, working in class and during other parts of the school day.”

Bryant focused on two iconic landmarks of Lindale, the Pickers Pavilion and the Old Mill Pond, to paint her ornament. She used impressionist techniques that she is currently learning in her advanced art class.

It is cool to have something that I painted to be in the House of Representatives.”

“It is cool to have something that I painted to be in the House of Representatives,” Bryant said. “It is not something that I get to do everyday.”

Counties represented in district five include Camp, Morris, Rains, Titus and part of Smith. Although Bryant painted scenes from Lindale, the paintings still depict the southern lifestyle familiar to the Hefner’s counties.

“The ornament turned out beautifully,” Harrison said. “She has shown dedication and a willingness to take risks.”
