Senior Wins Athlete of the Week

Senior Dillon Heinaman was recently selected by KETK for athlete of the week for football. His segment aired Sunday October 7th at 10p.m.

“It is an honor to get to represent my football team school,” Heinaman said. “I love [my team] to death. They are my family.”

The player of the week is sponsored by Christus Trinity Mother Frances. One of the doctors from the hospital, presented Heinaman with a plaque with his name on it.

“They came to me,” head football coach Chris Cochran said. “I didn’t nominate him for this, the news reached out to me. The way he plays caught their attention and everything he is involved in.”

The award was decided not only by his results on the field, but also his leadership qualities and his grades. Heinaman is an involved member of his church and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

“Dillon is really dedicated to the team,” senior James Sandifer said. “He has done such a good job at leading the team and keeping us positive.”

Heinaman was voted captain of the football team by the other players. He is also leading in passing yards in the East Texas area.

“Dillon wanted make sure people knew it wasn’t just a honor for him,” Cochran said. “But also for our football program and his teammates, who have been by his side.”
