Volleyball Loses to Texas High, Wins Against Greenville

This week brought both a win and a loss for the Lindale Lady Eagles, making their district record now 4-1 after the first round of district play comes to an end. On Tuesday night the Lady Eagles made the long trek to Texarkana to take on Texas High. Unfortunately the Lady Eagles lost at all three levels. Varsity’s scores were 24-26, 21-25, 25-17, 20-25. Leading Lindale at the net was Brina Kuslak (8 kills, 7 blocks), Shelbi Steen (8 kills, 2 blocks), and Hannah Knox (7 kills). Setters Harleigh Thurman and Kalaya Pierce had 18 and 14 assists respectively. Libero Jennifer Moyer had 27 digs in the four set battle.

Friday night brought wins at all three levels for the Lady Eagles against Greenville. The Freshmen A team won against Greenville 25-22 and 25-16. The Freshmen B team also traveled to Whitehouse for a match last night and lost in two tough sets to a competitive a Whitehouse team. JV defeated Greenville 25-22 and 26-24. Varsity won with scores of 25-19, 25-19, and 25-23. Leading at the net was Shelbi Steen (11 kills, 3 blocks, 12 digs), Brina Kuslak (8 kills, 1 block), London Reue (8 kills), and Skylar Wyllie (6 kills, 2 blocks). With four hitters leading in kills, setters Harleigh Thurman and Kalaya Pierce did a great job at moving the ball around. Thurman had 18 assists, and Pierce added 12 more. Libero Jennifer Moyer had 25 digs in the three set match.

The second round of district play begins at home on Tuesday night with a home match against Mount Pleasant. Tuesday night we will be celebrating Teacher Appreciation night. On Friday the Lady Eagles will travel to take on Sulphur Springs. Matches will begin at 5:00 both nights.
