Volleyball Beats Mt. Pleasant in District Game

On Friday night the Lindale Lady Eagles hit the road to Mt. Pleasant and swept with victories at all three levels, giving the Lady Eagles a 1-0 start in district play.  The Freshmen A team won easily in two sets, 25-12 and 25-18.  The JV also took care of business in two sets, winning 25-12 and 25-22.

Varsity won and took down the Lady Tigers in three sets.  Scores were 25-16, 25-17, and 25-17.  Leading Lindale at the net with kills was London Reue (10 kills).  Shelbi Steen and Skylar Wyllie chipped in 5 kills each but also led the Lady Eagles in blocking.  Wyllie had 3 blocks and Steen had 2 blocks.  Setter Harleigh Thurman led in assists (19), and Kalaya Pierce added 8 assists and 3 digs.  Libero Jennifer Moyer led the defensive effort with 14 digs in the three set match.

On Saturday, the JV and Freshman teams played in the Lindale Volleyball Tournament.  Both teams placed third overall in the tournament.  The Freshmen A team started off undefeated in pool play with wins over John Tyler B and Kaufman.  They lost their first match in bracket play to a tough Whitehouse team but rallied back to beat Henderson for third place.  Standouts for the Freshmen A team were Lily Frank (offense) and Preslie Walters (setting/defense).  The JV started the morning off by defeating Henderson and Corsicana before losing a close match to North Lamar.  They defeated John Tyler to win third place.  Standouts for the JV Lady Eagles were Marleigh Thurman (defense) and Brenley Philen (offense).

The Lady Eagles are home for a big game against district rival Sulphur Springs on Tuesday night and will play at home again on Friday September 29th against Royse City.
